The Yoke and the Noose

The year is 1812. Amongst the unforgiving farmland of northern England, young Joseph secures employment at Marsden Hall, the home of the wealthy and cruel Sir George. Fellow servant Silas is gruff and unwelcoming, but the secret they share soon blossoms into a forbidden romance. Threatened with the discovery of their relationship when the law makes it a death sentence, Joseph is forced to keep another more chilling and macabre secret. Worse yet, he discovers he is rather good at it. But how far will he go to save himself from the hangman’s noose?

Wuthering Heights meets The Tell-Tale Heart, with a dash of Call Me By Your Name, The Yoke and the Noose is a dark and thrilling Gothic story about how ruin is never more than a moment away, and the evil that even good people can do.
